[ THE ALBUMS | FIRST TIME HERE? ]
There are some art works on the internet that are deliberate collections of mp3 files, which we call "albums." On this Website I am arranging a subset of those, which I call "Sunsetters albums." I call them "Sunsetters albums" because I invite you to pretend they are rock music by a fictional band called Sunsetters.
In reality, these audio files are just fancy MIDI instruments performing sheet music written by myself (Jordan Dooling) and by my friend Lindsay Taylor. (Who are we?) (Why "Sunsetters?")
But we're here for the Fiction. And the Fiction is: These are Sunsetters albums. And they're supposed to be really, really good. Their music starts in the year 2000, and they release a new album every couple years or so. They're signed with BMB Records, whose practices sometimes raise questions, but for some reason the Sunsetters are given total freedom to make the albums how they want.
Who are the Sunsetters?
There are five members in the band. They are all American.
Over time, this lineup changes. Right now almost all the albums written have this lineup, though.
There's.. actually a lot to say about this project. It's made me think a lot about music, about creation, about art as a whole, about products and presentation. (I have only a marginal desire to learn the songs on real instruments, and in fact if we ever produced real-instrument versions of these songs, I'd consider those to be cover versions.)
On this Website, I have arranged pages for each album (and EP). You can navigate the album pages in a neat and chronological way via "THE ALBUMS" link below, or you can navigate with a lot more words via the "FIRST TIME HERE?" link. Once you are on an album's page, the music and the front cover will be presented to you immediately, so you can get straight to listening. However, if you scroll down past the music, you can read a lot of information about each album, as well as links to more ways to experience the music, and links to even more information.
